An
agreement has been signed between the Centre for
Development and Advanced Computing,
Tiruvanthapuram under DIT,Delhi and Webel
Mediatronics to manufacture Area Traffic
Control Systems based on technology from
CDAC. The handing over ceremony of this
technology to WML was held during ELITEX 2007 (
Electronics & Information Technology
Exposition) at India Habitat Center, New Delhi
on 10th January '2007, where Sri Dayanidhi
Maran Hon'ble Union Minister of Communication
& Information Technology Govt. of India
handed over the technology transfer document to

Mediatronics Ltd Sri Gautam Burman in
presence of senior CDAC and DIT officials.
The Area Traffic Control System now being
manufactured by
is the first indigenously developed Demand Based
Traffic Control system as against the
conventional time based traffic signal system(
which is based on Fixed Time ) and is a fully
adaptive road traffic control system, that use
data from road embedded detectors to detect
presence or absence of vehicle and optimize
traffic signal timings dynamically over a
corridor to reduce vehicle delays and stops. The
control system operates in real time domain with
the capacity to calculate the optimal cycle
times, effective green time ratios and change
intervals for all system traffic signal
controllers connected to it. The above system
can monitor and control from a Central Control
Room connected through leased line with each of
the junction controller of corridors .
Presently, however, Keltron and BEL are also
taking this technology from CDAC but we are the
first one to take this technology from them and
also get trained on the system.
