The company was incorporated in 1981 under the name of Webel Television Ltd., as a wholly owned subsidiary of West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Ltd., a West Bengal Government Undertaking. In 1985 with participation in equity of the company by the National Insulated Cable Company of India Ltd., (Now Nicco orporation Ltd.), the name of the company was changed to Webel Nicco Electronics Ltd. In 1999, November 15, with change of participation of equity partition the name of the company changed to Webel Consumer Electronics Ltd.
The ISO : 9002 : 1984 company is engaged in manufacturing CTV sets in encasing operation on the basis of circuit design and process sheet provided by the customer. WCEL has an experience of manufacturing TV, Audio DVD in encasing form.
The company has skilled manpower having exposure in IT related activities.
The company has a two-storied building having built-up area of 2600 sqm. (approx.). and land of 1.69 acre in a prime location in Salt Lake, Sector-V with the state of art infrastructure for manufacturing Colour television of all sizes. The company has achieved a peak production of 12,000 TVs in a month with double shifts and have manufactured television for national & multi-national companies as contract manufacturer
